Eilien merely watched him through hooded eyes, the red light signaling the passage of life from one being to the next. "My, my... such resilience," he said softly. The red light finally vanished into Eilien's hand. "Such a will as yours... hmm... worth dying for it seems." He rested his elbows on the table and steepled his fingers together, resting his chin against the tips of his middle fingers. "Throw away the dog meat, Legolas," he said, his voice very cold now, any childlike playfulness vanished. "It's all gone now anyway."

Legolas would have liked to tell Eilien that if the dog meat was all gone, there would be none to throw away, but unfortunately he was incapacitated to make sarcastic comments. He didn't feel particularly capable of picking the remaining meat up and carrying it to the waste bins, but he didn't really have any particular reason to want to refuse. Besides that he didn't really want to do anything Eilien told him at the moment. So he picked up the knife and used the blade to sweep the rest of the meat on to the floor. Then his knees gave out and he dropped to the ground, still clutching the knife.

Eilien reached out his hand towards Legolas, but instead of the usual red light, this one was golden and bright. It wrapped around Legolas like ropes, filling Legolas with warmth and energy. "There, there," he said, "how do you plan on killing me like that? Hmm?"

Legolas sighed with relief, his energy returning to him. Then he rolled his eyes and glared up at Eilien. He didn't know when him killing Eilien had become part of the plan, it was part that he approved of. "Its a secret. I would have used my special weapon," he said.

"Secret weapon?" the vampire child asked. "What sort of secret I wonder? I'm very intrigued now. You'd better not pique my curiosity further or I could just hasten that future." He sighed. "They all try to kill me in the end after all." Then shaking his head, he stood up and crossed to the table where he took out an assorted variety of staple foods and started to cook something as if nothing had just happened.

"But if you kill me, you'll never learn what my secret weapon is," Legolas said, with a shrug. Carefully, he climbed back to his feet. He would have to ask someone important if there really was some secret weapon. He sort of wanted one. It would be super cool. And, you know, nice not to be killed by some insane child. "Do they try and kill you before or after you try to kill them?" Maybe he shouldering be sassing Eilien, but he really couldn't help himself.

Eilien merely shrugged, his glowing eyes appeared to have dimmed for a little while. "Most of my leashes overact to the smallest things sooner or later. I don't trust them anymore. I always have to kill them afterwards, you know. It's simple self defense." He sliced a chunk of venison into very neat, juicy slices. He set aside a few of them for himself while he set the rest on a hearth stone. He put the stone into the hearth and let it roast there. Delicious smells filled the room. He then grabbed an few bottles off the shelf by the fire and began to open and sniff them. "Hmm..." He chose a bottle of something dried, crushed, and blue. He sprinkled it over the sizzling meat.

"Yeah, I bet," Legolas muttered, rolling his eyes. Self defense, that was likely. "Nothing like having a small, insane child tell you that he's probably going to end up killing you 'sooner or later' to make your day. Thanks, I appreciate it, I really do." He wondered why Eilien felt the need to add that he didn't trust them anymore, like he'd trusted them in the first place? Oh yes, this was turning out to be a great job, full of perks.

"At first they were nice," he said, reaching into the hearth like the heat was nothing as he spread the spice around the meat with a finger. He withdrew his hands, and it was glowing red and black as his burns struggled to heal. "But the nice ones didn't stay very long. Then they brought me men and women who feared vampires, thinking they would be able to control me better. But their fear blinded them. So I killed them." He could remember it, and he smiled slightly. "I'm glad you don't fear me. You're much stronger than they were. In other ways."

Legolas placed both his hands over his heart and stared dreamily out into the middle distance. "That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me. I'll treasure it all my days. I'll have it embroidered on my burial shroud. Then the world will know that you, Eilien Lareth truly have a warm and caring heart beneath your cold exterior and remarkable facade of killing everyone you ever met." He couldn't help but pause in his dramatic staring-into-space to peer curiously at Eilien's burning hands. It was kinda gross, and didn't it hurt? Why would anyone do that to themselves when they use a fork or something just as effectively.

"Forget I ever tried being nice then," Eilien said with an exasperated sigh. "Not like you can keep up with me anyway." Humans were strange things. Or maybe Eilien was just getting old. He couldn't tell if he was bogged down in the past or flying by in a blink. He certainly remembered everything so far, but he just thought at a faster rate than most. He wondered why Legolas was acting so odd, then thought, oh, right... THAT. Well, he can't blame me entirely. At least he shouldn't. I've been cooped in here for weeks and I'm starving. He glanced at his hand. It's starting to affect me. I need actual fresh blood, not silly spells.

"So rude." Legolas tsked. "But I know, I know under there is a heart of gold, even if you're rude all the time to everyone you meet. I'll know when no one else does, even if you deny it. Even if I'm just a slow, silly little bosmer." He shook his head slowly. "It must be so hard for you. All your friends die."

Eilien rounded on him, a massive wave of red aura shooting from his body in every direction while his eyes flamed like the hounds of hell. "Don't speak lightly of such things!" he bellowed, in a deep, demonic voice very unlike his own. It vanished suddenly. For moment it had been there, the next it was gone, like a distorted vision caused by a nightmare. He was just standing as he had been before, staring at his hand as it finished healing. As if nothing had occurred, he pulled out the now medium rare steak from the hearth with a prongs and placed it on a plate. He plopped it on the table in front of Legolas while he bit into his own juicy slab of meat. "Don't speak lightly of such things," he said softly, a small drop of blood sliding down his chin from the corner of his mouth.

Legolas flinched automatically at the red flash, the demon voice. He stared, shocked, at the little boy, blinking, trying to figure out what he'd just seen. But then Eilien just went about taking the meat out of the fire, and Legolas started smiling. It was a little smile, a thoughtful smile. "Okay," he agreed, nodding a little. He pulled the steak Eilien had given him towards him and started cutting it up into neat little bits. Everyone had their own way of dealing with things, and he'd learned something. Something very important, maybe. Or maybe not, but it was good to know all the same. He stopped cutting the meat and set the knife carefully on the table and looked up at Eilien. "I don't take it lightly. Just so you know. All my friends died too," he said, and then returned to carefully cutting his meat.

Eilien wiped the droplet off with his thumb, then sucked on that particular thumb like a little child. "I do not seek to be understood," he said plainly. He appreciated the sentiment, but it was just drudging up unwanted memories and thoughts, and the last thing he wanted was some heart to heart with Legolas. He stabbed the meat with a fork and then proceeded to chop it all into pieces. He violently stabbed each piece as he put it in his mouth.
