"Well, it's a good thing I'm a dog person." Eva said sarcastically. It looked like she would have to do up a bit of reading in order to find out how best to deal with this. She knew less of werewolves than she did of vampires, though she knew for sure that, when it came to both, she did not want to be bitten. "And as for the other ring," she continued, having almost completely forgotten about the urchin's existence now, despite the fact that he was still standing right next to her. "Would you like me to stop by and pick that up as well, or is that a job for the other guy?"

They can't seriously be talking about me! But wether or not they were, it was a rather exciting experience for Mord. For once, he was being talked of as if he was needed. He hardly knew if he was. Perhaps they just wanted to use him out of convenience rather than actual desire. But even so, it made him feel needed. Something he had not felt in years. He only hoped they had nothing evil intended for him. Most that showed interest in him only ever did so with the thought of harm.

He smirked at her response toward the Werewolves. "As long as you avoid dying, you should be fine. Avoid the beasts unless you know their human forms." Kaine then took a moment to think, his vision turned toward the child. "His use is determined only by himself. As long as he does not pose a threat to my plans, then I will tolerate his existence as such." He returned his sight toward Eva. "If you can convince him to help you, be my guest, otherwise; I can not think of any sort of work for him to do."

Eva had actually been referring to Valnir when she'd said that, and was about to correct herself, when the gears in her head began to turn again. "Yes, I'm sure I can make something useful out of this child. After all, I imagine most people don't find urchins to be the Daedric-artifact types." Or he can act as bait.... For the first time since Kaine arrived, Eva looked at the boy. "So, how about it, kid? Wanna help me steal some jewelry? I'll pay you for whatever...trouble you'll get in, of course."

Mord looked up at her, his eyes narrowed. "Yes. If you really will have me work for you." He did not exactly think that he could refuse an offer in the presence of this man looming in the alley with them. It was a disheartening thought to think of the consequences.

Kaine's vision switched between the two mortals a few times. "Very well, you can assist her. Though I assume you know the dangers of this task." His hand reached across, and grabbed a firm hold on his helmet, before he pulled it up and placed it over his face. "I do request that you try not to die, as it is quite an annoyance to find someone whom would do it."

"Great! Daedric shit, werewolves, vampires, and now you. Sounds like a party!" Eva replied to Mord with feigned cheerfulness. She was still quite nervous about all of this, but she would make it out in one piece. She had to. "And don't worry," she continued, looking at Kaine. "I'm good at not dying."

Mord was not a prime candidate for not dying, but so far he was doing alright. "I'll do my best," he said, which was the most he could promise, even to the person who could literally snap him in half in the blink of an eye.

"I will eventually check up on you." His voice grew quiet, and he lifted his right hand midway up his body, a slight greenish glow emanated from his palm. "Good Night." He said those final words, before vanishing into thin air, Most likely from an invisibility spell of some sort. The Chill of the wind seemed to subside, even for the frozen air of this stronghold.

"I can't wait." Eva replied to Kaine with veiled sarcasm. She unwittingly released a sharp breath when her 'client' vanished, and began to rub her upper arms. Looks like I'll be taking special care in checking my future clients' conditions from now on...if I can ever get new clients. Finally, she turned her attention to the orphan. "Well, kid, looks like you'll get to wear my fur coat a little while longer. And since we're now working together...may I ask your name?"

He looked up at her when she spoke, momentarily still mesmerized by the stupor cast in the wake of that unearthly creature. He shivered slightly and tugged the cloak closed around him. "Mord," he said softly. Then again, clearer: "Mord Hawkmien."

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Mord Hawkmien." Eva replied with a polite smile, the person who had been silently cowering before Kaine was completely gone now. "Or at least now it is, now that I'm sure don't have to kill you." Her smile broadened, and she threw her arms wide in excitement as she walked toward Winterhold's gates. "Welcome to your new life, Mord! Try not to die!"

Mord shuddered slightly. "Right, I'll try," he muttered, following behind her. All he ever did was try anyway. Pulling the cloak tighter around him, he watched the back of her as they walked down the streets. "So... where do we have to go first?" he asked. He wracked his brain for anything he knew that had to do with Daedra, but he could not recall. If he had heard stories, it had been long ago. He knew next to nothing of religion, only the simple things of certain gods names. But she had made such a quick reaction to the Daedra, so she must know something.
