Aeri grinned slightly. "Seems we still held on to that, if anything." He wondered if she really did remember everything of those days, or just the feeling or gist of that. He had thought of her now and then after the separated, then every single day after he hit sixteen. He had held on to those memories of that smidgen of paradise they hd experienced in the day before the war when they could just be children and hang out together. But the cold, hard realization hit him again, stemming the warm feelings of nostalgia like a mountain breeze falling down the mountains on a spring day. This was their reality now. "Seres... you need to go back to your camp. I need to go to Solitude." He grabbed a handful of snow and rubbed it between his palms, rubbing off the blood, then he stood to his feet.

Seres didn't want to go, but she had to before they got suspicious. She nodded slowly and stood up, looking at Aeris once more. "H-Hey, Aeris..." She said after a moment, completely facing him. "Is there perhaps... another time we could meet up again and just talk?" She really wanted to hang out with him again, like back then.

He was thinking the same thing, and as she asked it, he too longed to meet up again and just talk like usual once more, just like back in the old days. But he knew he could not do that. It would be too big of a risk. Wouldn't it? He looked at the forest, then her, as if imagining he was choosing between his job and his friend. "Perhaps, if you can meet back here in three days. That is the soonest I can sneak away."

"I'll try." She said with a nervous nod, she wondered if she was going to get caught by one of her fellow soldiers. Seres then picked up her blade and brushed the snow off. "Same time as well?" She asked, looking up at the sky.

He glanced up at the sky as well, taking note of its position. "Same time as well," he replied. He grabbed his blade and helmet, shoving the latter back onto his head, and wiping the blade off before sheathing it properly at his side again. Without another word, he gave her a nod, and headed off into the forest for the general, northerly direction of Solitude.

Seres picked up her helmet as well, brushing it off before heading in the opposite direction back towards her camp. She felt odd after seeing Aeris again, she had no idea why she felt this. But truthfully, it made her sad she only saw him for a bit.

Aeris had no idea what he was doing here. Well, he knew he was here to meet with Seres, but every rational part of him was telling him to, no, screaming at him to run right back to Solitude and forget Seres was here. But he knew he wanted to be here more than anything. So three days later at noon, here he was, at Folgunthur, eating some rations and waiting for Seres to arrive.

As promised, she arrived at Folgunthur and walked towards Aeris. "Hello." She said weakly, offering a small smile towards him. She walked over, adjusting her armor she had received to cover her chest. She learned well after Aeris nearly killed her.

He turned and faced her, his eyes softening when he saw her face. He had armor on as well, but it was mostly hidden under the folds of the cloak he wore. He had the foresight to wear traveling garb rather than parade in Thalmor gear like a moving target. "Seres," he greeted, bowing slightly at the waist. "You came..." he said it as if he did not quite believe she would have.

"Remember, I didn't break one promise back then." She laughed weakly, still smiling a bit. "I'm surprised you came as well." Seres stepped more towards him, standing next to him now. "Quite nice today, don't you agree?" She glanced up at the sky.

He smiled, regarding the sky for a brief moment before returning his attentions to her. "As much as I agree that the day is indeed favorable, we both know that's not what we came here to discuss." Though he was not so sure what it was they decided to come here to talk about.

"Really then..." Seres said, slightly hesitant. She sighed and glanced towards the ground. "Aeris. I still want to be friends with you. Even if you're a Thalmor and I'm a Stormcloak..." It was a sad truth, Aeris had different loyalties, and Seres also had her different loyalties. She was glad she found Aeris again, she still wished to be friends with him. She basically had no one at this point. Her mother was too far away, and her father was dead.

"It will never work, Seres," he said lowly. "You know that don't you?" He had wanted nothing more. All those years, to return to the simpler times when all that mattered was their friendship and feelings rather than their race and beliefs. But growing up seemed to have made life more complicated than that. Aeris shook his head. "No matter how much we may want to, we are on opposite sides of a line now."

She didn't speak for a moment, honestly she didn't want to talk in fear of crying. She hadn't cried in a long time, not ever when her father fell in battle, she had shed no tears. But for some reason, now she wanted to cry. "... I hate war." She muttered. "I hate it all. I hate everyone in my troop, I hate the death. I just hate everything about it... But here I am, fighting it." She gulped a bit, almost feeling her voice break. She kept her cool though, hiding her face from Aeris.

Aeris turned to her, sadness in his eyes. He reached out a hand to her, then stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her. He pulled her close in his embrace. "I'm sorry, Seres, I'm so sorry." He wanted to stop the war and everything about it more than anything. He wanted the Thalmor to go home, the Nords to stop feeling like the only way to gain their country was to oppress the innocent and the helpless, he wanted the Imperials to stay to Cyrodiil. But he could not make it happen with a snap of his fingers. In fact, he felt he could not do anything at all.
