So I have a question for everyone!
As I was perusing the internet, I happened to stumble across some varied Skyrim rp things, and I noticed that on some, people were allowed to join as actual in-game characters from the canon verse, or were allowed to create characters that were a part of the in-game family trees.
So should we have that here to?
CONS:
It's kind of odd playing as a canon character.
There could be people clamoring to be the same character, especially if the character is in a position of power and authority.
Players will obviously have to deviate from the canon verse to accommodate this.
This can cause conflicts seeing as leadership positions have been usurped by non-canon characters (ie: dark brotherhood and blades).****
**** Of course, we could just say that the previous leader is now dead.
PROS:
Become more immersed into the game. Now you can actually be a part of the conniving Black-Briar family, or be the leader of Whiterun, trying to hold a shaky peace.
Explore possibilities for characters you like in-game, either by being them or getting to interact with them in more personal ways.
Having trouble coming up with an OC? Build off of a firm backbone already immersed in the game universe!
Be more involved in quests. It's not "that random dude's sword" you're looking for. It's YOUR sword passed down through generations that you're looking for.
SO: thoughts anyone? Please tell me why this is or is not a good idea. If anything, does the idea of being able to tack your family onto canon family trees appealing? Rather than play as the NPC Black-Briar family, you just have a son of the Black-Briars?
LET ME KNOW!
