"I dread the thought of how dull your life was before I came into your life with my boldness. What ever would you do without me?" she asked rhetorically as she followed Hjortor into the Riverwood Trader. Of course, she might have been the one who needed him more than he needed her. She wasn't sure what she'd do without her giant bear. She moved to look around at the displayed wares while Hjortr would handle the actual transactions.

Hjortr shook his head. Probably roll over and die in a gutter of boredom, he thought to himself. He watched her go, then stepped up to the counter. A man popped up from below the counter with a cleaning rag in hand. He set it down and wiped his hands on his jerkin. "Oh, good day. How may I be of service?" he asked." Hjortr leaned against the counter. "Good day. Just picking up a few traveling supplies. Can you write a list?" The man grabbed a quill and a pice of paper. Hjortr continued. "Bread, dried meat, salt, rope, dagger -steel preferred-, em, health potions if you have them, and any sweet rolls by some chance." The man pointed at a shelf that Rijja was next to. "Rope is there. I have food behind me. Em, health potions, yes, five septims each. And I do happen to have only iron daggers on me. Though you can check the blacksmith for steel. I don't mind pushing his business any. He makes very fine weaponry." The man reached under the counter and pulled up a small wood crate. Health potions clanked inside as the box moved. Hjortr looked the bottles over, then snatched up four of them. "These will do." He looked back at the food on the shelves behind the merchant. "That salt packet there. That one of dried meat." "The rabbit?" "Mmm, it will do. And the sweet rolls there. Three please." He looked back at Rijja. "Grab the rope and we'll be set." he turned forward again and snatched up his pouch to count out septims.

While Hjortr talked with the storekeeper, Rijaa tried not to break or drop anything as she looked around. She stayed within Hjortr's sight so that he could see her mouthing things and making faces as she listened to the storekeeper talk- of course where the storekeeper couldn't see her. That wouldn't exactly help them haggle for a good price. She gave an appreciative grin when he requested sweetrolls and grabbed the rope near her when asked and brought over to the counter. "How much even is a bundle of rope?" she asked the storekeeper honestly.

The trader pulled some things off the shelves and set them on the counter while Hjortr also went to browse the shelves in case anything had slipped his mind when he formed the mental list. The trader looked at the rope bundle. "Well, that would be the lot, so nine septims." Hjortr scoffed. "A little pricy. Bring it down to five." "You trying to rob me?" the trader shot back. "Nope." "I'll bring it down to seven." "Six." "Seven" Hjortr shrugged. "Six." "Fine," the trader growled. He grabbed the sweetrolls off the shelf and tucked them into a bag. "Here's your lot then." Hjortr left the shelves be and went up to the counter. "For the whole lot?" "Fifty." "Robbing me blind," Hjortr muttered, counting it out from his pouch. "You, and what about me?" Hjortr shrugged again and handed the man his money. While the trader counted, he put some of the things in his pack, then handed the rope, a few health potions, and the sweetrolls to Riija. "Thanks for your business." "Mmhmm," the trader just mumbled under his breath.

Rijaa put the rope, health potions and two of the three sweet rolls into her own pack. She immediately took a bite out of the third she held in her hands. "Wahl ish still better than what I would off gotten," she tried to point out with her mouth full. That would be setting the bar rather low if any price better than what Rijaa would have gotten was enough to be satisfying.

Hjortr put the rest of the things in his pack, then made for the door. He wouldn't intrude on this man any longer than need be anyway. "Yes, yes it is," he said, his tone light and teasing. He held the door open for her, seeing as her hand was occupied with a sweet roll.
