Sleeping Giant Inn a tavern in the town of Riverwood. It is fairly large with five available rooms. It serves amazing wines and ales and great dinners.

Rijja just returned to the table she shared with Hjortr with two more bottles of Alto Wine and mead. The wine was for herself since she couldn't stand the taste of mead. "I'm bored Hjortr," she complained to her companion as she sat down opposite of him and set down the bottles. She sat with one leg propped up on the bench and her elbow up on the table to hold her chin. She tended to stir up things when she got in needy moods like this, which could either lead the two of them to finding some sort of job or just a bit trouble- nothing they couldn't work their way out of though.

Hjortr reached over and snatched up the mead, unstoppering the cork to take a nice, long drink. "Mmm, that's good." He looked up at her when she whined about their little predicament. He had also been feeling rather useless and bored lately. Sometimes he would wake up and swear his limbs had gone flabby. Totally his imagination of course, but he still tended to think so at times."Any ideas on how to remedy that?"

"I could pretend to be drunk out of my boots and start up a nice brawl. You could feign the role of the noble traveler and 'intervene' for the good of the inn," she only half-joked as she just picked an idea off the top of her head. She uncorked her own bottle and took a drink as she eyed the other people in the inn to see who might be interesting or easily provoked.

"Yes, but seeing as we both have been sitting here for the past hour, it's rather obvious that we would be in it together." He did not mean to shoot her idea down so fast, but he knew she could come up with better plans than that. "What about possible job opportunities? What sort of patrons can you pick out from the people at the bar?"

She puffed her cheeks out almost childishly as he shot her idea down, but quickly let her air out in a sort of sigh. "You're ever the voice of reason," she pouted slightly but immediately scouted around the room with her eyes. She knew he was right though and that she could come up with something better.
A decent looking merchant at the bar looked promising enough, and she nearly skipped her way towards him from their table. "Looking for arms to protect your wares my good sir?" Rijja asked loudly as she suddenly plopped herself down in the unoccupied bar stool next to the merchant.

Hjortr had to grimace. Always the high ranked, attractive ones, he thought, by which he meant ones that would be a burden to guard. Though I must commend her for her choice. They do offer the best pay. He stood up, leaving his mead on the table. He quietly went to stand a little ways behind Rijja, letting his presence be known without invading her selling space. Getting the clients' attention and sealing a deal was always the priority.

The merchant almost jumped a little from her sudden appearance at the stool beside him and almost immediately frowned when he looked at her. Why do they always frown? she wondered to herself frustratingly, as she didn't understand that she didn't come off as a 'professional for-hire' as much as she believed she did. "Not arms like you," he answered. "You seem like you're just another inexperienced and poor commoner attempting to dress the part of a ruffian," he voiced as he looked down at her. Rijja almost frowned until she saw the merchant look a little startled as he turned to see the source of the large shadow that was cast over him from Hjortr standing behind them a couple of feet. Her confident smile and look of mischief in her eyes remained as it had when she appeared beside the merchant. Rijja gestured to her nord companion behind her with a hand. "I'm sure you'll like my companion's arms just fine though. You probably can't guess by just looking at him, but he has some very nice arms," she tried to persuade him further now using Hjortr to weigh them in some favor.

Hjortr still had that intimidating look, but his voice was cool and calm as he said, "the lass here seems small and spritely, but that's what keeps her in the game. Nimble as elves and a meaner bite than sabers. Me? I can charge like a bull and cleave with the strength of bears. Together we make a fine team. And we don't slack off. We don't run and cower. You'll be pressed hard to find a pair of the likes of us anytime soon."

"And why should I need such a pair of...veterans as yourselves, when I will be traveling along by road merely to Ivarstead?" The merchant asked the pair. Rijja actually laughed for a good half a minute after hearing him. "You must not have come through this way to Ivarstead in the past few years apparently. Why, you must just be some fresh boy who recently inherited his father's trade business if you think you don't need any escorts to Ivarstead," she basically insulted him. The merchant's face reddened and his expression was stuck somewhere in between embarrassment and anger. "And what reason is there, that I am apparently unaware of, for me to require your hire for going to Ivarstead?" he asked, looking like he was just about to storm out of the inn altogether any second.

He grimaced, knowing he should probably reprimand Rijja, again, for her impertinence with the customers, though it was perfect to segway into an explanation that may turn the tables to their favor once more despite his earlier refusal. "Well, kind sir, a rather hefty purse such as yours tends to stand out against the rugged backdrop of one of the most dangerous roads in the realm. What with the war going on, both sides are too busy in their own affairs to clear out all the new bandit settlements. And even if money was not involved, most everyone this side knows that this is the perfect troll season, when they come down from the mountains to drag hibernating bears from their beds. Course, a well-proportioned man such as yourself makes for a more delectable and delightful sight than a cranky bear."

The merchant paled when Hjortr explained the dangers that he was unaware of. "Without protection you'll be easily picked by the bandits on the road, and if you try to avoid them off road you'll only be closer to the mountains to be drug off by some hungry trolls. I suppose the bandits will just loot your wagon after the troll gets you," she started to ramble off the possible scenario. "Alright!" the merchant interrupted her before she could continue with other scenarios that involved him getting killed. "I will take your word for it," he decided as he looked at the two. "I'm not just some foolish young merchant," he tried to convince them with his best prideful face he could muster. "What...sort of pay would be agreeable for protection to Ivarstead?" he asked them. Rijja looked at Hjortr to decide.

Hjortr had a typical price for these people going that specific way. "I assume you have a large caravan with enough goods to carry your profits on into Riften. So my charge is rater simple. One hundred septims. Each. One payment now. One payment at our destination. Hard money on the table." He spoke in that very definitive tone that said he was not to be easily bartered down with. This was their lives they wee selling away, and it was indeed a long, harsh trek around the Throat of the World to get there. Especially with the Dragonborn vanishing, it was no wonder that the dragons were not being kept in check, and they found the Greybeards shouting to be a very intriguing point of focus. Travelers and the like made fun pickings on a whim.

The merchant didn't even try to bargain with the large man. He nodded at the price and fished out his coinpurse from the pouch at his side, setting it out on the counter as he removed a smaller pouch from inside that was marked for holding 100 septims- as such bags helped make large payments easier and faster in his line of work. "Here is the first payment then," he said as he held out the pouch of 100 septims to the big man. "And when should we meet you to guide you safely to the east?" Rijja asked him. "The caravan should be ready shortly after dawn outside of The Sleeping Giant Inn," he told them.

"We will be there at early sunup then. We have our own horses and provisions, so no need to worry about those," he said, accepting the coin purse and tucking it into his own belt pouch behind his breastplate. Best place in case cut purses were about. He and Rijja could divide the spoils back in the room.
